If I'm to be honest, I enjoyed the first half of Season 1, but still had my trepidation's. Each episode has in my opinion built on the others and made the story more compelling. I will certainly admit that while the Mirror Universe Storylines are usually very good, they are usually only an occasional one off, and I'm not entirely sure how I feel about them being stuck in the Mirror universe yet, and its certainly different which is great. I like that it's not cookie cutter episode. I love the shift in the characters demeanor, especially Tilly. I really hope they continue developing her. I have a feeling that this opportunity she's been presented with is going to do great things for her confidence. Thus far I'm really enjoying what i've been watching.
Lorca - Yeah, he's totally from this timeline. They've given clues that didn't make sense until now. The most notable and one I didn't catch right away was the Agonizor scar on his back in the scene in which he was sleeping with the Admiral lady. It's a very unique scar. His demeanor has always been strange compared to most other Starfleet Captain's. I wouldn't be surprised if he is the Mirror Captain Lorca.
T'kuvma - Totally called this one a while ago. LOL
Enjoying the ride so far! Can't wait for the next episode.

so this thread hasn’t been active in a while but I figured it was easier to stick some thoughts down in here than in the Discord which is a bit more conversational.
I found Season 1 of Disco a little jarring in places. There was a lot to get used to. But ultimately I have no problem accepting it as part of the Prime Timeline. Even the Klingons as they look now. Visually you just have to accept that things aren’t going to look the same as they did in the 60’s. Hell Enterprise even looks massively out of date by today’s standards. We have whole concepts of today’s technology that nobody had even thought of 15 years ago.
I kind of like to think of it like this. We accept the Klingon alteration as it happened in Enterprise with the augment virus erasing their head ridges. But we then ignore how the Klingons look in TOS and imagine them as they do in Discovery. The reason being that after ENT the Klingons wouldn’t have wanted to look human so they did some DNA resequencing and realised that they could undo the effects of the augment virus BUT first they had to resequence the klingon genenome into an earlier state of evolution creating these more savage looking Klingons with even larger forehead ridges and rather menacing looking claws. By the time of TMP their genes had become to stabalise and had gone back to the way we see klingons since.... Of course the Picard show may destroy this with more DSC style klingons but until then that’s what I accept. When Bashir says ”Those are Klingons?” in the ds9 tribble episode it was because he was looking at the more beastial klingons which still look a fair bit different to the Klingons he is used to.
One thing I do love about DSC as well is how it actually helps to explain so much about the Trek universe in the form of the Mycelial network. After all we are talking about a quantum super highway that filters everywhere through the universe. So why does this matter? Cos this is surely how telepathy works in trek. Vulcans, Betazoids and other telepaths are simply tunedd in some way to this network. Allowing for things like telepathic communication over light years in the case of say V’Ger and Spock or how Troi can sense emotions through the viewscreen.
Otherwise i am loving the show so far. Burnham is engaging as a main character but the rest of the crew are awesome additions as well. Saru, Stamets and Tilly all feel real but with their own little quirks that add a little flavour. Loving that season 2 seems to be dealing with more of the bridge staff and having pike aboard just puts the cheery on top. Really hoping we get to see Saru become captain before too long though.

Honestly, I don't need the show to tell me more about the Klingon augment virus. I don't care how they look....I actually started to love this new look and attitude, more warlike. I always considered Klingons all bark no bite in TNG and DS9, other than Worf of course!
I really enjoyed S1 on the first viewing, and I just did a rewatch before Season 2 started and my love for the show just grew. Season 1 is amazing on rewatch and knowing what's coming, and so far Season 2 is just STELLAR. Pike is amazing, and I love the focus on the Bridge crew and Tilly. The story so far is very Enterprise mixed with TOS, and I love that.
I cannot wait for Episode 3 tomorrow!
