Zorya Arc #18 - Abyssal Descent: Starfleet's Uncharted Journey
The crew have dealt with one major catastrophe, let's move onto something mysterious and a bit intriguing, oh and with a bit of engineering in it.
(I am also very aware that I am REALLY late with this.)
<Incoming Communication> <Origin - Starfleet Command> <Destination - USS Zorya Captain's Ready Room> <Date: Stardate: 12401.18> <Security Level: Captain's Eyes Only>
Greetings Captain Rousseau,
We would like to pass along our thanks and congratulations for the assistance of you and your crew in the situation at Starbase 440.
You are ordered back to Earth and to dock at Earth Spacedock. Once docked, meet in the grounds of Starfleet Command, where you will receive your next briefing for your next mission.
Please ensure that your ship has enough stocking of equipment for both engineering and other needs.
On a side and private note, I would recommend that you and your crew have their dress uniforms pressed and ready.
Lieutenant Commander Elise Wilson, Vice Admiral Raif's Aid, Fleet Coordination, Starfleet Command, San Francisco, Earth

Zorya Mission Orders, Stardate 12402.12
<<Incoming message from CO Rousseau>>
Overview: We have a new mission. This time around, we are being tasked with exploration. We've been asked to investigate an unusual signal coming from the ocean of the planet Pacifica, deep under the surface.
Joining us on board for the sending off ceremony, are a number of high level officials. Please welcome the Vice President of the Federation, The President’s Chief of Staff with his Communications Director, the Commander of Starfleet, Admiral Raif, Commander Cordan, the Director of Starfleet Academy, and last but certainly not least, Professor Marina Oceanus, who requested this mission.
After the sending off ceremony, and a state dinner, which will take place this evening, the Vice President, and Chief of Staff will be departing back to Earth along with Admiral Raif, Cordan, the Commander of Starfleet, and the Director of Starfleet Academy.
But we still have several VIP’s that are staying on for the expedition. Two admirals, three diplomats, one Federation council member, and Professor Oceanus, along with one other scientist.
As such, I expect dress uniforms at VIP events, but clean regular uniforms will be fine for the rest of the time. And I also expect you to present your very best selves for the duration of the time that our guests are with us.
After departure, we are traveling from Earth to a research station in Pacifica’s orbit, where our engineering teams will be building the vehicle that will explore the depths of Pacifica. We will be putting together a submersible ship capable of withstanding the deepest pressures of the ocean depths, and equipped with the latest in scientific equipment.
We don't get to do exploration missions very often, or host high level officials of this caliber, so I ask that you bring your top games to this mission. And, it might even be fun. So do try to enjoy yourselves, this is a rare opportunity.
Thank you all.
Captain Rousseau

XO: Jo, there's going to be a lot of diplomatic schmoozing in the upcoming days. We might need to split our attendance at the tours and gatherings in order to get any work done around here. And, there will be briefings, I expect at least a few of them. Apparently this mission is a big deal.
There's also going to be a number of new personnel arriving in addition to the VIP's, please see that they're assigned where they need to be. That includes some ex True Federation officers, who will need to be brought back into the fold of Starfleet. I don't need to tell you that there may be some friction in the crew over this, but I trust you to know what to do to help smooth things over.
OPS: Please coordinate with the brass and VIP's attaches to arrange all of the details for the slate of special events and briefings that are taking place on board while we travel to Pacifica.
Also, please make sure the expedition supplies are distributed as needed. Additionally, we’ll need to communicate with Pacifican officials to let them know details of our arrival.
aTAC/Sec Teams: This is a high security situation. Keep on your toes, and keep the vip’s and brass from harm while they’re with us. Also some of you will be expected to attend functions with the senior officers, so keep your dress uniforms handy. For the Pacifica portion of the mission, underwater battle tactics will probably be useful to know, as a few of you will be assigned to the sub once we arrive at the planet.
NAV: We will be departing shortly after the sending off ceremony. Our destination is the research station in Pacifica’s orbit where the sub will be built.
Slipstream will be necessary for the journey, Pacifica is located at the far edge of Fed space. Coordinates are attached.
Additionally, once built I’m going to ask you to pilot the underwater ship, and possibly any smaller secondary vessels attached to her. Please study up on piloting ocean-going vehicles.
CEO: I assume by now you’ve been working with the scientists to develop a design for the sub. I’ll need a briefing with you and your team to see how it looks before going into the building and testing phase at the research facility. I’d like it rolled into the main crew briefing with the scientists and the brass.
aCMO: Officials running around the ship, plus parties, mean alot of people getting drunk, etc. Prep a few extra inebriants, and analgesics for the journey. Set aside private exam rooms for any higher level patients - if there are any emergencies, I want VIP treatment and discretion.
Once we arrive at Pacifica, get a team together to accompany the exploration vessel, along with medical supplies in case of emergency. We may not be able to get back to the Zorya immediately in an emergency, I don’t know how quickly we’d be able to beam out or otherwise reach the surface… so be prepared.
Professor Oceanus: Welcome aboard, we're looking forward to this exciting journey. Before we get too far into it, my crew and I will need a full briefing of your findings. This should include the exact nature of the signal that we’re searching for, along with the coordinates of its location on Pacifica. Please schedule the meeting with Operations at your earliest convenience.
