Summary
The Spitfire-Class Multi-Role Support Craft began as a modular space superiority fighter system for use on starships and installations equipped to carry such craft (such as the Akira-class or starbases). The base platform is a fixed-wing craft capable of flight both in and out of atmosphere, with a two-person cockpit (pilot and tactical). The base platform's primary defensive armament consists of a retractable dorsal-mounted delayed-burst phaser turret capable of 360 degree rotation. Dual-layer shielding and a dual-hull design serve as the platform's primary defense.
The Spitfire platform's primary design feature is a trio of hardpoints (one directly behind the cockpit, and one each under the wings) that can be fitted with an array of different modules depending on the need. While this gives the platform significant versatility in combat, it also allows the craft to serve a number of non-combat roles, from personnel and cargo pods to enhanced scientific and exploration modules. This greatly enhances the utility of the craft beyond its originally intended role, and significantly enhances the versatility of any ship or installation equipped with the platform.
As such, the Spitfire Multi-Role Platform is being considered as a potential replacement for the Danube and Yellowstone-class Runabout platforms.
Base Platform Technical Specifications
The base platform has a significant defensive advantage over older Mustang-II fighter craft, owing to its base-level shielding and hull designs. Conversely, while the dorsal phaser turret is comparably effective to the Mustang-II's primary phaser array, the lack of a similar ventral weapon results in a significant lack of coverage for the underside of the craft. For this reason, it is not recommended to use the base platform in a combat role.

Mark I Arrangement Technical Specifications (Heavy Superiority Fighter)
The Mark I Heavy Superiority Fighter arrangement adds ventral phaser turrets in the wing mounts and 1 (one) micro-torpedo launcher in the aft mount. This provides the platform with not only full spherical coverage, but also the ability to target multiple enemy craft. The additional firepower makes the Spitfire an exceptional combat platform for use against other small fighter-like craft, or heavy projectile weapons such as heavy plasma torpedoes or mine-like weapons.

Mark II Arrangement Technical Specifications (Fighter-Bomber)
The Mark II Fighter Bomber arrangement inverts the additional armaments seen in the Mark I configuration: two micro-torpedo launchers are mounted under the wings, and one additional phaser turret is added to the aft hardpoint. This arrangement is intended for use against larger starships and installations, though it still carries significant anti-fighter capabilities. The 1/16th yield quantum micro-torpedo may not be capable of ultimately destroying enemy starships, but it is ideal for surgical targeting of specific subsystems or structural weaknesses.
