(Posting this here, too, just in case)
Hey all!
Welcome back after the break, everyone.
What a lot of change we’ve undergone while on hiatus. Phew!
We’ve a new CO (Hi, Gunther!) who will be joining us as we set off next Monday, we’re seeing the return of some experienced and imaginative players (Hi, Rob and possibly Chris E!) at the same time, CJ will be joining us as a player (whooo!), and we now have yours truly as a GD (Hi, Me! ... Bye T’ali!).
It’s truly a thrill to be back in the god seat, folks. For those of you who have been around forever, you know this isn’t my first rodeo and I hope the prospect of playing in my version of trek not entirely terror-inducing.
For those of you newer to the game, here’s how I tend to function:
I try to come up with a basic question that I want a crew to answer. Something like “Do murderers deserve to be treated with humanity?” or “what affect will fear have on a person’s ethics?”, “how will x, y, and z react to a total change in power dynamics?” or, yea… “Who will fancy this super hot NPC the most?” (...I’m not all about the big questions.) From there the missions form based very much on my crew and what they decide to do. So, really, there’s no telling what the outcome will be. You all have complete control of the direction you go. I, however, have complete control of the monsters I put in front of you as a result.
I’m also open to chatting to you all about what you have in mind for your character. If you have an idea where your character is centre stage and you wanna play it out in mission, brilliant! Bring it to me, and we can work to include the rest of the crew too.
Have an idea for a mission? Tell me that too. It will likely need tweaking, but we can work on that and get your idea out there.
Bottom line, all, I’m open to suggestions.
Just fyi, as is the case with all of STAB, I run an inclusive ship. LGBT+ characters get as much respect as any other. Which is to say, I’ll put them in just as much danger and screw with their heads just as often as any straight character. Heh. I do not discriminate; I’ll maim you all with equal disinterest.
Additionally, if you have any concerns about how I’m running the ship, I’m happy to hear you out. And I hope you extend the same courtesy to me if I have to speak to you.
If you don’t feel like you can come directly to me with a concern, Gunther, CJ, Einar are all there. They’ll give me the gist without naming names and we can resolve stuff that way.
My main goal here is for us all to have fun, folks.
I hope you do.
PS. When it comes to technobabble, my rule is this: Accuracy is tough to maintain when it comes to future-medicine, engineering, theoretical physics, etc., so as long as you try to reference stuff in the show, and make it SOUND good, I’ll likely allow it to work.
Maybe.
I look forward to seeing you all on Monday the 6th where we’ll be starting at Starbase 616, ready to undock, with our ship having been repaired with the help of a slew of station engineers after all its recent damage and drama. We’ll be beginning with everyone already loaded onto the ship, so if you have any battle aftermath/packing logs to write, my suggestion is, do it now.
See you all on board!
