"hopeful madness at best" The Bremen in a nutshell.
I'm, so used to seeing Tony in the centre of a lively ensemble cast in Engineering in your logs, E, it's nice to see him take a moment apart to consider where he is now.

Lieutenant Anthony Adalberto Stardate 11901.24 U.S.S. Chiron, Main Engineering
"Confrontation"
a joint log with Shawna as Engineer Oleg Dimitrou
He'd barely gotten a notice from some blessed soul on the bridge. About Tony. About his demotion and apparently promotion. Which meant it was only a matter of short time before the man himself showed up. Oleg twirled a spanner in his hand, jaw set. The general noise of engineering at least drowned out the otherwise audible clack of his teeth. Fine. Fine. Everything was going to be fine. He just had to hand over control to someone he used to trust with his life with no prior warning. He could do this without incident, certainly. They were all adults here. And certainly everyone would be glad to see him, back where he was supposed to be. Oleg would be glad.
Oleg could hear the noise die down, and without having to turn he knew why. He however did turn to see Tony there with a cocked smile and a PADD. "Heya kid....still haven't shaven that fuzz of your lip yet, huh?"
Tony traversed the distance between the two men, the PADD held awkwardly at his side. The spanner came to a stop in Oleg's hand, gripped tight. "Commander." With an exaggerated glance at Tony's pips: "Sorry, Lieutenant. Come to fail to catch another spy in our midst?"
Tony pursed his lips, it seemed his suspicions were correct. This would not be as easy as just walking back in. "Tony is fine, as always". He handed Ollie the PADD containing his orders "I'm sorry, just know that this doesn't reflect badly on your job here. I'm.....actually very proud"
It would be unprofessional of Oleg to cause a scene. He was, in theory, better than that. But it still took an achingly long time for him to accept the PADD. "Proud enough to walk back in from god knows where and make like earned your place, well that's a fine hello, isn't it."
Tony felt heat rise to his cheeks, something that he was not used to. Because he was genuinely ashamed. Here he was, taking the place of the man he had trained, a man who had earned his spot. And there would be many bridges to rebuild. "The Captain wants me here, Oleg....and you know where I've been..in fact" Tony raised his voice "everyone here knows where I've been and what I've done for this crew" he looked back at Oleg "For it's ExOh. Now, I don't need you to like this, but this is what it is"
The aside comment about Raqiin made Oleg bristle. Did he really want to drag her into this, after what he'd done? And after what the captain had just been put through, for his sake? Just because they used to be close didn't mean all the hurt in between didn't exist. He roughly offered up the spanner. "This is what it is. Welcome back, for however long you'll be staying this time."
"Keep it" he said, stepping past Oleg and towards the warp core in order to let some of the humming drown out what he had to say next. "Ollie, I get it. You're pissed but what I did, I did for this crew. Now, I am coming back asking for your help. This Engine room has been in great hands, but this is where fate has decided to put me....so I'd like you to continue as my second in command" he turned to face the man, someone who had looked up to him on the Bremen, but now despised him "if you accept"
"As your second," Oleg echoed. He bit back a part of him that wanted suggest that if he was going to be anything but second, then Tony knew just where he could shove that spanner. He sucked in a breath and let it out slowly. "You didn't ask for this." He assumed, as the captain had been implicated in this whole decision. It was her choice to make, after all, and Tony was more than qualified for the job. "And I don't plan on making trouble. That's not me, and you know that. Of course I accept, just...don't expect things to go back to the way they used to be."
"I understand. And don't worry, we are way past that, kid" Tony sighed as he leant forward, resting his hands on the railing surrounding the warp core "Continue as you were, Lieutenant"
As Oleg seemed likely to move off, Tony grabbed him by the arm "Ollie, I really am proud of you"
He found himself surprised at the fact that he didn't pull away. Some part of him was glad to hear it, swelling with his own pride, but outwardly Oleg gave a tight, polite smile. "Thank you, sir."
Tony reluctantly let go of his arm and continued staring at the core "I'm going to look around, get acquainted with the systems. Call me if you need me"

Yep. Sara totally thought this assignment through, and didn't just blindly plug Tony back where he used to be without considering the consequences. That would be so unlike her.

Lieutenant Anthony Adalberto Stardate 11901.31 U.S.S. Chiron, Bridge
"Placeholder"
Tony sat down, gingerly, placing his hands on the armrests, the computer registering his DNA and fingerprints for authorization.
"You've got the Bridge, for now anyway"
He let out a breath he didn't realize he had been holding, staring at the viewscreen in front of him, the back of the head of the Orion navigator moving left and right as she studied her controls and operated the ship.
He hadn't been in Command of a starship for years. In fact, he had never aimed for the Captain's seat, he had been content enough in Engineering. Sometimes Sara had left him in command when needed, but he never cared that much for it....he tried to stay away from making command decisions. The last time he did, over 200 innocent women died.
He closed his eyes, banishing the memory of bodies exposed to vacuum.
But now, that Starfleet had demoted him and put a permanent reprimand on his record, he would never make Command.
And it hurt, more than he cared to admit.
But there were other things, more pressing things he had to focus on. Such as earning back the trust of Raq, and his team in Engineering.
And there was a way. Even though Intelligence had used him, and spat him out once they had no way of controlling him, there was still unfinished business.
"Come to fail to catch another spy in our midst?"
Oleg's words had hurt, even though he hadn't shown it at the time. He had failed, and somewhere on this ship there was, or had been, a traitor. A saboteur.
And he was going to finish what he started, this time in a gold shirt.

Ooooooooh. Tony is on a mission!
And the reminder about those women... Man, that genuinely affected me when it happened. Reason 265 why this game should not be run with dice. :/
